A Thematic Symposium – Integrity of Mechanical Structures and Material (formerly Special Symposium in ICEMECE 2020) is held for the parallel with ICE-SEAM 2022, for the second time since it was firstly introduced in 2020. This year, collaboration with De Gruyter GmbH and Prof. Francesco Tornabene is arranged, which the submitted papers in this symposium will be projected for journal article publication in the Curved and Layered Structures (ISSN: 2353-7396) – De Gruyter GmbH, a SCOPUS – WoS indexed journal.

The submitted paper has to be written in well-English language with page range is set below which the template/guideline refers to Instruction for Author provided by the journal. Open Access License to Publish needs to be filled and signed during revision submission. Please note that poor English writing and missed-formatting may lead to rejection in final screening by Curved and Layered Structures and De Gruyter.

The accepted paper formats and draft length approximation (including reference list):

• Short communication – max. 8-10 pages
• Mini review – max. 8-15 pages
• Systematic review – more than 15 pages
• Full-length article – more than 15 pages

Scopes are selected to be Recent Developments of the Thin-Walled based Designs and Structures. which thin-walled here is defined as three-dimensional structural components in which one dimension is small compared to the other two; they include shells, domes, arches, articulated plates, and membrane-type structures. Thin-walled designs have a high load-carrying capacity, despite their small thickness.

The selected areas and applications of the symposium scopes are designated as follows:

Steps to participate and submit in the symposium

1. Submit manuscript according to the instruction and description above to: bit.ly/TS-IMSM2022-paper
2. Fill the details according to the manuscript information
3. Guest Editors conduct screening and preliminary review. Please note that the content of manuscript must be original and has not been considered or simultaneously submitted to other platforms.
4. Decisions of the screening and preliminary review are announced to the selected authors.
5. Authors are asked to compose 10-minute video (mp4, HD) and submit them to: bit.ly/TS-IMSM2022-video.
6. Registration and conference fee payment procedures to the symposium is conducted as announced by ICE-SEAM 2022.
7. Please note that fail to comply Steps 5 and 6 will make the selected manuscript removed from the selection list.
8. After the video submission and registration, the selected authors are asked to submit the manuscript to the CLS submission system by selecting “SI: TS-IMSM 2022” by selecting the article type.
9. Complete the submission by uploading the required documents. Cover Letter must be intended to Prof. Francesco Tornabene, Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of Curved and Layered Structures (CLS).
10. Selection list based on screening and preliminary review by Guest Editor will be informed to the EiC and CLS. Manuscript submission outside of the list will be given straight rejection.
11. Authors must follow the peer-review process, including paper review, revision, rebuttal, etc.
12. Payment of the publication and handling fee will be asked when the manuscript is accepted (Instruction will be given later). Partial waive of the normal journal APC is eligible for all accepted manuscripts in this Special Issue. The Editor and CLS have reached an agreement for the publication and handling fee is 300 EUR per accepted manuscript.

*) For authors who wish to participate in-person (offline) in this symposium, the video submission is not required.
The checking of the author participation will be conducted during conference.
In-person authors who do not show up and present the manuscript will be automatically removed from the selection list.
